Ecto-Web is an independent fan site about the Ghostbusters films, games and the wider franchise. These terms explain what the site is, what you can expect from it, and the few rules we ask you to follow while you’re here.
What Ecto-Web is (and isn’t)
This is a fan-made, editorial website. We write guides, commentary, rankings, explainers and reference pages for people who love this stuff as much as we do.
Ecto-Web is not an official site. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Sony Pictures, Columbia Pictures, Ghost Corps, or any studio, publisher or developer connected to the franchise. Nothing here should be read as an official statement from any rights holder.
Agreeing to these terms
By reading, browsing or otherwise using Ecto-Web, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree with them, the simplest fix is to stop using the site. We’ve kept the terms short on purpose, so please give them a proper read.
Names, posters, stills and screenshots
Film titles, game titles, character names, logos and related trademarks belong to their respective owners. Posters, stills, screenshots, box art and promotional images shown on Ecto-Web are the property of the studios, publishers and artists who created them.
We use this material for identification, criticism, review and commentary, in the way an editorial publication does. Images are shown at modest sizes, alongside our own writing, so readers can tell what we’re talking about. We don’t claim ownership of any of it, and we don’t sell it.
If you hold the rights to something on the site and want it credited differently, resized or removed, get in touch through the contact page. We’ll act on legitimate requests quickly and without fuss.
Our own writing and layout
The articles, guides, descriptions, page layouts and original graphics on Ecto-Web were made by us. You’re welcome to quote short passages with a credit and a link back. Copying whole pages, republishing our guides elsewhere, or scraping the site to build a competing database isn’t allowed without written permission.
Accuracy, availability, prices and streaming
We work hard to keep information correct, but the franchise doesn’t sit still. Films move between streaming services, games get delisted or discounted, physical editions sell out, and release dates slip.
Because of that:
- Streaming listings reflect what we found at the time of writing. Services add and remove titles without warning, and availability varies by country.
- Prices are a snapshot, not a quote. Check the retailer or storefront before you buy anything.
- Availability of discs, games, merchandise or tickets is never guaranteed by us.
- Release information can change after we publish.
Everything on Ecto-Web is provided “as is.” We don’t promise that any page is complete, current or error-free, and we’re not responsible for decisions you make based on something you read here. If you spot a mistake, tell us. We’d rather fix it than leave it standing.
Links to other sites
Ecto-Web links out to retailers, streaming platforms, official franchise pages, other fan communities and news sources. Once you click through, you’re on someone else’s site, under their terms and privacy practices.
We don’t control those sites and we don’t vouch for them. A link from us is not an endorsement of a product, seller or opinion, and we can’t help with orders, accounts or disputes on third-party sites.
Acceptable use
Ecto-Web is a small, independent project. Please don’t make it harder to run. While using the site, you agree not to:
- Attempt to break into, overload, disrupt or test the security of the site or its hosting.
- Use bots, crawlers or automated tools to copy the site in bulk.
- Post or submit anything unlawful, defamatory, hateful or infringing, if and where the site accepts contributions.
- Impersonate Ecto-Web, its contributors or any rights holder.
- Pass off our writing as your own or as official franchise material.
- Use the site for spam, phishing or any commercial purpose we haven’t agreed to.
We can restrict or block access for anyone who ignores these rules, without notice.
Comments and contributions
If the site accepts comments, corrections, tips or reader submissions, you keep ownership of what you send, but you give us permission to publish, edit, trim or decline it. Don’t send anything you don’t have the right to share, and don’t include personal details about other people.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Ecto-Web and the people who run it are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site, from reliance on its content, or from anything you encounter on a linked third-party site. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under law that can’t be excluded.
Changes to these terms
We’ll update this page when something changes, whether that’s a new feature, a legal requirement or just clearer wording. Revised terms apply as soon as they’re published here. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the new version, so it’s worth checking back occasionally.
