The game has been normally released at the end of , the same year of the Atari2600 disappearance from the market. It never arrived in USA but a few reseller in Europe got it just before terminating the Atari console commercialization. It's , if not THE most rare game on the A2600, one of the rarest. It has been dumped to ROM file only some weeks ago and Ecto-Web is here for you to make it available to all GBFans!
First thing we have to notice is that this piece of game is clearly been finished in hurry. Title screen sucks and probably is missing some graphics as well as the whole game feature only 2 levels instead of the three available on the other versions. This can be caused by the limited console capacity of course but I had the feeling that it has just be skipped. The remanent level are the descent of Ray in the sewer to Vanhorne and the Libby's ride. To be honest I did not reached the second level yet. What I saw ,therefore are some nice graphics ( for this console!) , with "lot" of colors. Naturally, forget about the stone decoration in the sewers , seems that trees are blocking the way instead of metal junk. |
Sound is worst that the GB1 game on the same machine, at least the music,; since the first license has no SFX. Here sound effect are presents in the form of "Scrshh". What really hit me is the playability. This game is hard! I have problem controlling Ray , too reactive to the joypad movements. However, due its rarity and the console it runs too this game is nice to own. |
Here's the Original GB2 A2600 docs shipped withthe game.

GHOSTBUSTERS II
INSTRUCTIONS - ENGLISH
ONCE UPON A TIME, FIVE YEARS AGO
Manhattan was infested with spook and ghouls of every description. Slime oozed and squirted from each nook and cranny of the city. The very atmosphere throbbed with paranormal activity. Gozer, the destroyer of subcreatures, and his two terror dogs transformed a skyscraper into the Temple of Zuul. They wanted to take over the world. So who did New Yorkers call...? The Ghostbusters! Armed with proton packs, they zapped and toasted every ghost in town. They even brought a giant marshmallow man to life that helped them quell Gozer, and rescue New York and the rest of the world from impending doom and destruction ! Five years later, the Ghostbusters have discovered a huge tunnel of slime running through the old Van Home pneumatic transit line underneath the city. This time, it's mood slime feeding off the bad vibes, meanness, rudeness, and general ill-will that permeates the city. So, who ya gonna call this time ? The Ghostbusters! Join them in a precarious, paranormal-filled dangle above the Van Horne tunnel on a slimescooping mission. March with the Statue of Liberty down Broadway.
