The Genesis has been released on 29th of October in Japan and the USA on the 1st of September. Knowing that and knowing that Ghostbusters was one of the first avaible games on that system, we can assume that the game was relased in Japan before the release of GB2 movie and then in the US. Ths would explain why the Genesis got a GB game and not a GB2 game: because at the time of development GB2 had not be done yet
